My Story | Mi Estoria
I became an esthetician because I am passionate about guiding people on their journey to achieving their skin goals with a holistic approach. I began getting acne at the young age of 10 and for about 2 decades I struggled with all grades of acne - from blackheads/whiteheads to cystic acne. It broke me from deep within. My self confidence was shattered for way too long because I felt so uncomfortable in my skin; I didn't feel worthy.
I was separated from my husband at the time and living with my best friend, when she encouraged me to go to beauty school as it was something I had wanted to do for a long time but never had the courage to go for it. I tell people my grandpa was my first client because as a little girl I'd extract his blackheads/whiteheads, tweeze his ear hairs and just hook him up! He loved it but some of my family members thought I was strange because I enjoyed it so much! My 2 daughters were really young, I was working full-time and with the support of my loved ones I was able to go to school part-time and graduated/received my Esthetics License in 2013 from Federico Beauty Institute in Sacramento, CA. When I graduated my skin was so inflamed from using all the products in school and in my mind - there was no way I was going to go out into the world as an esthetician - while my skin was in the state it was in. I stayed at my office job but in 2017 I began having this burning desire to go after my passion so I quit, got a part-time job and began renting a room/taking clients.
From 2017-2024 I was so blessed to offer customized facial services with a holistic approach. I used nutritive, organic skincare products and used modalities such a manual lymphatic drainage, facial cupping and gua sha techniques to help my clients glow from the inside out. I've put a halt to my in-person services for now as my family moved to another city. My youngest child is 2 and I've come to embrace the fact that this is a season I am in and in time I'll get back to seeing clients in-person on a regular basis. [It took me some time to come to terms with this because I LOVE IT & MISS IT SO MUCH!]

I am excited for this new chapter in my esthetics career! I am pivoting my business and am offering virtual services, created a curated online shopping experience and a blog. I'm looking forward to seeing where this journey takes my family and I - I am ready for the ride & excited to create a community with like-minded individuals because community is what it's all about!

If you've gotten this far, thank you for taking the time out of your day to get to know me a little better. :) I can write for days, hence why I wanted to create a blog because I love long form conversations - whether in-person, through video or writing. I've always had a love for writing and connecting with people 1 on 1 since I can remember. I fell in love with my journalism class in high school and continued in college, I wanted to major in journalism and be the next Oprah, Lisa Ling or Elizabeth Vargas. Graduating college didn't end up being in the cards for me but that will never stop me from continuing my love with the art form of writing and connecting with individuals on a deeper level.

Take care of yourself & always remember - that if you are struggling with feeling confident in the skin you're in - know that your worthiness doesn't lie in the texture of your skin or the inflammation you are experiencing - whether that's acne, eczema, etc. I encourage you to take the perspective of your skin communicating with you that there is some deeper, inner healing that needs to take place in order for the outer healing to take place. Find peace in that and know that I am here to guide you along the way.

With peace and amor,
Veronica
